Specific Requirements for an Epoxy Floor in a Warehouses

Epoxy flooring is a popular choice for warehouses due to its durability, low maintenance, and ability to withstand heavy traffic and equipment. When installing epoxy flooring in a warehouse, there are a few specific requirements to consider:

  1. Thickness: The thickness of the epoxy coating should be sufficient to withstand the weight of the equipment and traffic in the warehouse. A minimum thickness of 400microns is recommended for most warehouses.
  2. Abrasion resistance: The epoxy flooring should have a high level of abrasion resistance to withstand the movement of heavy equipment and pallets.
  3. Chemical resistance: The epoxy should be resistant to any chemicals that may be present in the warehouse, such as cleaning agents and forklift battery acid.
  4. Slip resistance: A slip-resistant finish is essential for preventing accidents in the warehouse; however, it must not be overly aggressive because doing so would increase the amount of wear and tear on the tyres of forklifts and render the cleaning procedure impossible.

Interested in scheduling a more precise price assessment for your epoxy floor coating project?

To get an estimate that is as accurate as possible, please send us an enquiry and answer the following questions to the best of your ability. A few photos can often say a thousand words.

1- What will your area be used for, and what type of epoxy finish do you require? | Epoxies, like any other product on the market, come in a variety of varieties and qualities to suit various applications.

2- How is the current state of your slab? | Each slab is unique; some are porous, while others are non-porous and extremely hard; is it already coated? If so, what is the condition of the existing coating, and does it need to be completely removed?

3- Access complexity and power availability are two other factors to consider before providing an estimate | large three-phase machines can do a better and faster job, but they are very heavy and have specific power requirements that cannot be taken in through out areas with steps.

4- Working hours of the site's requirements | Some jobs can only be done after hours, which will add at least 15% - 30% to the cost of the job to cover the penalty rates.

5- Area size | one of the most important factors in estimating an epoxy floor coating job, and the larger the floor area, the lower the sqm rate. Let's say you have to cook dinner for 5 or 8 people; the effort will be similar, with the only difference being that you will require more materials to complete the task.
